After School Book Clubs

Purpose:
Our After School Book Clubs engage middle school students in reading, writing, and healthy social interactions that instill joy, foster a sense of belonging, collaboration, and exploration. 

Goals:
  • Create a space where students can explore and discuss a variety of literature while focusing on age appropriate development of socio-emotional topics and experiences
  • Engage students with books and activities that respect and acknowledge their diverse cultural backgrounds and experiences
  • Incorporate culturally relevant content and perspectives to create inclusivity and equity
  • Help develop a sense of curiosity that allows students to think independently while taking other's ideas into consideration
  • Provide space for students to express ideas with a variety of creative medium

We provide free books for children, teens, and adults throughout the year at community events.

Goal:
To turn our book desert into a literary oasis by getting books into homes
