About Us

Our mission is to strengthen youth literacy in Norristown by increasing access to books and literacy programming.

We envision a future where Norristown stands as a literary oasis, empowering the next generation to reach their fullest potential through universal access to books - one reader, one book at a time.

Norristown Page Turners (NPT) was established in May 2024 by Kate Jaworski and Angela Smith, the founders of Norristown’s only bookstore, Recycle Read Repeat. Both organizations operate out of 208 Cherry St. in Norristown. 

NPT actively works to support children’s literacy in Norristown. Norristown is a book desert with poverty rates above the national average and student literacy scores the lowest in Montgomery County.

Kate and Angela bring their combined thirty years of teaching and educational leadership along with their passion for literacy to this work. 
By working closely with the Norristown Area School District, NPT serves as an additional support to provide students with the opportunity to own books, increase motivation and actively engage in more reading, develop healthy reading habits and build home libraries.
Our programming offers engaging interactive after-school book clubs for middle school students, focused on friendship and belonging. Our high school summer program uses book club discussions as inspiration for community service projects. We also provide thousands of free books to the children of Norristown at community events throughout the year. 
NPT also works closely with local literacy partners such as: Norristown Public Library, The Literacy Council of Norristown, Norristown Area Education Foundation, CCATE, Theatre Horizon, and Norristown Area Literacy Collaborative.
